  • 1 cup milk (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (room temperature)
  • 1 cup butter (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup shortening (Crisco)
  • 6 cups sifted powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and prepare three 6-inch cake pans with butter and parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the cake flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda; set aside.
  3. Mix milk, sour cream, and vanilla in a separate bowl; set aside.
  4. Cream butter and sugar until smooth. Gradually add whisked egg whites until fully incorporated.
  5. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk mixture into the batter until just combined.
